Further Useful Tips, Tricks and Features (Updated)
Lock Chats – Additional security feature whereby you can lock selected chats using a passcode or Face ID.
Edit Message – You can edit a chat message after it has been sent.
Delete Message – You can delete a message from a recipient’s inbox.
Copy Part of a Message – Tap and hold the message you require and then again tap and hold which part you wish to copy.
Schedule a message for later – Tap and hold the send button (right click if using a pc or laptop), choose schedule message, pick the date and time, tap (left click) the send button again.
Silent Message – Send a message that does not “ping” or notify the recipient. Type the message in the chat window like you usually would. Then tap and hold the Send button and, in the pop-up menu, choose Send Without Sound.
Image Self-destruct – tap and hold the Send button and, in the pop-up menu, choose Send With Timer. (On Android, the Self-Destruct Timer is directly to the left of the Send button.) Choose the time you want the image to be visible, and then tap Send With Timer.
Mute – You can mute notifications from a specific contact if receiving too many messages. Go to the chat page and then tap and hold the account icon for the contact you want to silence (you can also do this for groups). In the pop-up menu, choose Mute. You won’t hear from them again until you repeat the process and choose Unmute. On Android, select the three dots in the upper-right corner and select Mute and you’ll be given a list of choices.
Pinned Messages – Move a message to the top of a group and it will remain there permanently. To do that, open the group chat window and find the message you want to pin. Tap and hold, then choose Pin from the pop-up menu. Choose whether you want to Only Pin the message or to Pin and notify all members.

Telegram vs WhatsApp
Unlimited server storage – WhatsApp is restricted to the amount of space on your device.
Media compression – Users can choose whether to compress the image and video or send the uncompressed version.
Group member number capacity – a Telegram group can hold 200,000 members., whereas WhatsApp is capped at 256.
Username feature – You can communicate with anyone on telegram even if you don’t have the contact number of others. This ensures the privacy of the user’s contact number.
Channels – Similar to groups, but can contain unlimited members.
Multi-platform support – Telegram is available for Android, ios, windows phone, windows pc, Mac os, Linux OS, and even through any browser.
Secret chat – end to end encrypted chat in which one can set self-destruct timer.
Bots – can be used to automate tasks such as timed messages and self-destruct.
Send any type of file – WhatsApp limits video, images & document type files.
Multiple sessions – Users on telegram can log in on multiple devices at the same time and able to receive messages on all devices.
